I stumbled across this website while looking for crossbow
info. I belong to a live action role play group called Amtgard. Think of
D&D in live action. I have a reproduction of an English long bow in 30lb
draw weight that I use, but really want to use a crossbow. The few I have seen
used are all modern type, but I want one more in period. I have looked at all
the great bows the people of this forum have made and I have to say I’m blown
away by the quality. I’m no stranger to wood or metal working, it’s just the
basics of the crossbow that I was unsure of.
I taught myself how to make chainmail so I know with the photo essay
that Lightly made and lots of question I can teach myself how to do this.

    Hello Rafn,

    Welcome to the forum.

In my opinion if you built a bow, then a crossbow should be just as easy. What might prove difficult thou is passing the weapons check at your events...or have the rules regarding poundage finally changed?

Not a big fan of D&D or fighting with foam swords, but I did enjoy countless sword swings over my head when doing Sambo , so read up and have fun building your stuff.

    Good Day,

    Ivo
