Greetings all, it's been some months since I've posted, but I've finally finished my first crossbow. It's nothing out of the ordinary I suspect, as far a these things go, and I'm terribly excited about her. Here she is posing for a few candid shots:

And one from her on display for my company's staff art show:

Hope you all enjoy. She was a pleasure to build and is even more fun to shoot.

    Love it!

Nothing like simple clean lines in a tool!  Nothing on there is unnecessary decoration!

Nice! Those bolts are pretty unique, can you provide details? I think I recognize the points but how did you do the vanes?

Sure can! bolts are handmade, milled the tips from steel, heat treated with oxyacetylene torch, then a quench. the shafts are hardwood dowels I picked up at Home Depot. I'm sure I'll have to find some other better material for future bolts. The fins are wood (either poplar or mahogany, really it was whatever leftover from a scabbard project I had lying around), cut on a scroll saw, I used the mill to rout through the shaft, and married the two with glue and wrapped with artificial sinew, then a dab of 2 part epoxy. Painted black, and line lines are silver paint pen, just for effect. I'm going to make another batch once these have all exploded or break,if anyone can point me in the 'right' direction I'd appreciate it.

You made the points? I thought they looked like ones I've seen for sale online, but now I look closer and your's look a bit larger, and the shape a bit different. Kudos on that! It's cool that you got to display your work in an art show, I think that's a great way to show off a lot of the beautiful pieces built by members of this forum- sure it's a weapon first, but equally a work of art.
