    Hello,

I'm Nick, a historian and blacksmith from Michigan.  In the forge I specialize in medieval reproductions.

I've wanted to make a crossbow for a while, but I'm not much into woodwork.  My brother is a woodworker but doesn't do metalwork.  So between the two of us we're going to start building one.  We're still working out details, but I'll document the process as we go.

Hello Nick from Michigan. I am also Nick from Michigan. As the others have already said there is a lot of information on here. The forum inspired me to get started on my first crossbow build.

Welcome! Better plan on building two crossbows so you don't fight over who gets to shoot it first. Don't act like I don't know what I'm talking about, I have brothers!  Very Happy

Thanks all!  We're planning two, but my wife also wants one and I've been wanting to do a repro of the balestrino in Leeds, so we'll be busy.  Once we've finalized the design and all the measurements and details we can start on them, but I need to work on the prod, which I'll be forging myself.  I can forge it and I'm confident about being able to heat treat it, though I'll be doing test runs to be sure.
