Going for POWER this time. Looking at around 250-300 lbs and use a cranquin. I'll be flexing some construction muscles I have not used before. Going with a steel 2 stage trigger. the beginnings shown here:
I'm looking at basing it on one I found on the Digitarc page:
Because it is pretty. I'll take some hints from some of Mr.Sam's posts as well.
I'm thinking bird's eye maple for the top instead of bone/ivory and a dark wood for the body. I like walnut, but perhaps something more exotic. Or I might go wild and use purpleheart and padauk. I want to be done with the stock by Feb, and the cranquin a little after that.
I was looking at slowbow for the prod. While the heaviest is a little lower in power than I want, the draw length is nice and long, giving me a better powerstroke.
The trigger will be a simple tickler holding the sear in place. I'm not thrilled building a more complicated lock with a set trigger at this point.
If my younger daughter starts behaving at bedtime I'll be working on her little bow too. That is a claplock, using a fiberglass prod.
cheers!
