    I built this cased trigger last year and finally finished the bullet bow for it last week. At this point it’s got a shake down of about 50 shots. The 150# + steal bow is from Slowbows who lives about 8 mi from me.
    The sear has a 3/16” dia. round release bar mounted on twin miniature ball bearings. Release is between 3# and 5#.
    The crossbow is my second and is a little unusual will need a follow up post.

    Thank you, this lock was built without an idea for the finished crossbow other than it was to be for target shooting with ball ammo. I am a slow worker, so ideas bounced back and forth before finally deciding on the Italian tournament style along with its quirky sighting system. In order to deal with a tiller design that requires a long tickler my trigger needed to be extended further back to a thumb operated one using a #8 threaded rod. I will post more info and photos of this weird crossbow.

    Impressive work, looks rock solid. Do you do the machining yourself or did you get it done at a shop?

    Drill press, files, hacksaw, and the most important is $28 16bit 1996 cad program to test part relations and print out templates for every part.

    Finally got windless warm day here in Ohio to test outdoor consistency of bullet bow #2. Set up tall narrow cardboard box with ¾” round target dot near top. A bench rest and 4 power Tasco scope were set up with distance 62’ from string brace. The resulting diagonal string group is for (5) ½” steel ball bearings. The group hit 15” below the aim point.

    Very consistent results. That's what I find so brilliant about the shuttle bullet bow design, there's simply no room for inconsistencies between shots with this kind of mechanism. The only variables within the mechanism i can think of is the track which might get debris on it and cause friction or the bullet might not be seated properly, everything else should (in theory) perform exactly the same way every time the trigger is pulled.

    What length power stroke is this bow running?

    Any idea on speed (fps) this is putting out?

    The power stroke is 8” and I have not velocity tested this 150# + bow but my 90# with 3/8” steel balls gave 217fps ave. using the drop calculation which I thing is optimistic. I am mostly trying to improve accuracy and to this end I recently increased the string downforce by inserting a skinny narrow shim on lower back of the prod. The bowstring is heavy with 66 total strands of B50 plus shuttle and ½” ball I am probably getting 150fps.

    Great job on the trigger too.

    Did you harden the sears or any other parts? Are the nylon/plastic blocks separating the trigger case sides bits of old cutting board?

    Impressive accuracy btw, would make an awesome small game rig!

    I have used a rolling sear which is 3/16” dia. X ½”lg. alloy steel dowel pin from True Value hardware. It was shortened to 7/16”lg. to fit in the case and then mounted axle style on twin miniature ball bearings. These were then pressed into reamed holes in twin tickler lever plates. The only item that I heat treated is the top swing latch which 3/16” ready ground O1 steel plate from a local tooling supplier. I regularly clean the innards and pack the bearings with wheel grease. Those plastic spacer pieces including the removable trackway are hmwpe from local supplier scrap bin. The 1/8”thk. side plates are from Lowes.
    This crossbow is not for hunting, it is an experiment to try out the sighting method used in annual summer tournaments by the Italian and Croatian towns. They use a long sighting radius with the arrow as the front sight and 2 other components to aid in eye placement to serve as the rear sight. No peep sights! Since there is no arrow for me to sight on, I mounted a twin pillar affair way up front.
