Hello everyone! I have been doing archery for a few years doing long bow and recurve. Last year I got interested in crossbow and started studying how they were made, how they function, what are their problems, and how I can construct it as a period design based on period (1550 AD) knowledge, materials, and techniques. The one I am shooting in my avatar is based on a Stonebow, a Slurbow,, and a Target crossbow.

Welcome to the site Vincenti. The crossbow in your Avatar looks interesting do you have any other pictures of it?

Yes, I have a number of pictures. I documented the process from when I made drawings, prototypes, research, and then pictures during construction. I will see about getting them posted somehow so that they are available to everyone.

    Hello Vincenti,

Interesting crossbow, reminds me of the few target crossbows I've seen on Digitarc website.

...based on a Stonebow, a Slurbow,, and a Target crossbow.

So it's a hybrid of the three? I'm a Big fan of such things and most of the designs I'm working on follow the same hybrid developing thought pattern. Will be very interesting to see the details you compiled in your creation.

Now to answer your question about posting pictures.

Visit the Posting Pictures Topic: Link

So...Photobucket.com(great for projects since it's Album based and allows one to upload both pictures and videos) or our forum's built in picture sharing function (for quickly posting an occasional picture).

And of course there is Youtube if you ever want to do a video tutorial.

Well... Greetings from Oklahoma City and the SCA 376108to the forum. Looking forward to seeing you crossbow.

Let me know if you have a question/need help with something.

    Ivo

Perhaps you could add the instructions to our Wiki? It's easier than adding them here and people (and Google) can find the information much more easily afterwards. If you need any with it, I'm glad to help.
