HTML Feature is now available...Please do not abuse it.

Post by Admin on Sun Dec 27, 2009 8:26 am

That's right, from now on HTML code may be used in your posts.

What this means is things like "3D model viewing"(just like in 3D Warehouse), calculators, and other previously unsupported content like : Photobucket Video, floating cube gallery(great for new topic headers)...may be a part of your post.

Below is an example of the above 3d View's "include" code that was generated by 3D Warehouse

    Code:
    <iframe src='http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/mini?mid=8a4b317fea2811f818edde7674148c57&etyp=sw&width=400&height=300' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' marginheight='0' marginwidth='0' width='400' height='300'></iframe>

    - Make sure to go to you Profile/Preferences and switch "Always allow HTML :" to "Yes" to be able to view other peoples HTML and uncheck "Disable HTML in this post" in the "Options" section right below the window where you enter your text (Post a New Topic, Reply, ...) to show your code to others.

After that all you have to do is paste the code in your post and it will show up once the post is sent...that's it.

    NOW - THE WARNING!

I know that by making this feature available I'm also making this site vulnerable to malicious code (if it's annoying, it's the same as a virus), so I ask of everyone to respect the power you are given and only post code that will help share your ideas.

For those that decide to not care and go their own way on this one...I will repeat it in a familiar to you fashion.

This site is NOT MySpace and I don't want to see glider, sparkling stars, and strobe light text everywhere...we had snowflakes before, but that crap is over. From now on, all I want to see is functional code like Calculators/3D views/etc and not the one that causes epileptic shock from viewing your post.

IF.....What I ask is too much....and I see people abuse this feature...it will be removed, thus reducing this forum to it's basic level of communication abilities.

    Thank you for your time.

I wish for everyone to take full advantage of this feature "the smart way" and most importantly Have Fun! santa
