I saw a few posts on how to get or make forged crossbow parts. So I thought some might find this photo essay I wrote (see PDF link) helpful. The trigger type I make is similar to the ones that New World Arbalest uses on their crossbows. In fact, the first one I ever made was more or less a direct copy from a crossbow I bought from New World (about 12 years ago).
Basic crossbow triggers are really not at all hard to forge. It may take a little practice but it really is within the reach of a novice blacksmith and the most basic smithing tools.
Hope this helps (and that the link works).

Hey thanks that was a good tutorial. That does see, really simple to do and it doesn't look like it would need complex forging equipment. Just a heat source, hammer and something to pound the metal against.

Nice set up though. Certainly beats my little forge and railroad tie anvil.

Ps. I did have to edit the link to get it to work but we'll keep that as our little secret
