    Taking my time

Post by Archer46176 on Sat Aug 06, 2011 10:18 pm

Still working on my crossbow stocks. I am really taking my time with the layout and thought on these. I have the center layers laminated now and it is cut out and ready to be sandwiched between the outer layer. I am going to have someone use a power joiner(floor model not hand held) plane down the top rail(where the channel will go for the bolt). Then I will layout for the prod and nut and use a forstner bit to drill the center piece for the nut. Once that is done i will be ready to laminate the center between the outers and start shaping the stock/s. I plan to use a brand new trailer style leaf spring from the local farm supply store so i should be good to go. Again I know I can order ready made prods from several companies BUT I want to do this from easily accessable materials in case there is a SHTF situation. This way i will know I have the ability to make a crossbow without ordered parts.

Glad to hear the project is coming along. Well don't they say that slow and steady wins the race. Very Happy

It will get done soon enough and I for one am looking forward to pictures.
