Suppliers of horn, sinews etc in Germany, Austria

Post by bowyer tom on Mon Aug 15, 2011 4:04 pm

I´ve been ordering horn from India five times, and from five different supliers. None of the horn-scales has been of such quality that I can use them in a horn/sinew composite crossbow-bow...

Does anyone know of any honest supliers of horn and sinews??? I´ve heard about someone in Austria/Germany that does this, but I can´t find him!?

    Pe-lease!!! Help me!

Have you heard of http://www.highlandhorn.com/index.asp ?

They don't have sinew, at least as far could tell, but they do have horn.

Yup... Been shoping horn from Martin for several years for my asian bows, but this is not what I´m looking for. I´d like a specialized dealer whom has scales ready for laminating, and whom is skilled in making laminated crossbow-bows...

Glad I didn't point you to someplace terrible even if it was not what you were looking for.

Sorry I'm fresh out of idea.

Yes, there is an adress in germany: dick.biz

I know this adress from a guy who already has made several crossbows with horn-sinew-prods. He is content with this adress!
But you have to plane the horn plates until they are really flat. So you have a horn plate with a thickness of 5-6 mm in the end, when you have bought a plate with a thckness of 9 mm. That means, you must 300€ at least for the horn material...

I´m also interested in making a crossbow with a composite prod, but I have to wait until I can effort it.

    greetings,

    David
