Welcome to the forum Acuballista,
Can't wait to see what your new crossbow will look like,
Any details about it? Are you trying to replicate any particular crossbow?

Re: Greetings from Norway
Thanks guys
I was planning on making a very simple battlefield crossbow, with a steel bow, ash stock and steel nut. I work as a CNC operator so I`m planning on making the nut and possibly doing some of the woodwork with a CNC machine. I notcied there are ash blanks made for baseball bats out there, has anyone tried to use one to make a crossbow? I also have a piece of square cut oak I can use if I can`t get any ash

Re: Greetings from Norway
CNC.
It's kind of an overkill, but it's cool as long as you're having fun. Definitely post your progress man...I'm this forum's biggest fan, love to see people take on a crossbow project. *...that and I work with CNC centers, designing and fabricating dental prosthetics*
As for Ash - one of the best stock woods. Oak...ehhh...lets just say it's OK.
Let it Rip!

Thanks man, and don`t get me wrong on the CNC, most of the work will be done by hand but I might use a CNC machine to cut the groove for the arrow, I would thin this is very critical to get a accurate crossbow
I`ll try to get as many pictures as I can trougout the process
