My resent project.. Small crossbow with a special look, designed mostly
for target shooting. Made of wood (maple), steel and little silver. Prod
made by pressing unidirectional fiberglass strips on a wooden core (see
better description in "Technology"). Lock has an original design with
automatic safety system, I will present later how it works..
    Technical data:
    Draw weight 120 lbs
    Draw length 6.8"
Bolt speed little over 50 m/s, with a 20 gramm bolt

    Overall weight around 5 lbs

    Overall length 29"

Wow Shocked You did some good work with that crossbow. I really like the overall lines of your crossbow and the silver on black of the lock is a great touch.

Here's a pictures from insights of a trigger mech. Actually, most of the springs aren't shown here, but main idea must be clear..

Safety work just perfectly, it moves to "close" automatically when you cock a crossbow.

If you look closely, there are two pins right behind the prod. I believe those are meant for a spanning lever. Smile

You sir, are one very talented individual. I love the styling of your crossbow and as was mentioned the black and silver hardware looks great. I think my favorite aspect though has to be the trigger mechanism. As a firearms enthusiast I have been able to see all manner of trigger groups, and what you have there on your crossbow is certainly something to be proud of.

    Thanks for such comments.
With 120lbs prod it is possible to cock manually, even without a
stirrup. Although, a spanning lever will be presented, along with a
sight. Lever will give an option for stronger prod, and I've already
done it in a draft version.. I've been completely occupied with my
thesis, so it took long time to design and make those features.

    westwind
, trigger mechanism, indeed, took the most time to produce. I
am pleased with it's performance, so I'd recommend this scheme for this
type of crossbow.. It's basic idea I found on a Russian forum, that have been linked here several times..

In this prod I used thin modelling plywood, but it wasn't good. I did already broke this prod, but indeed with a heavy overdraw by a wrong shaped spanning lever. Now the new one (or few) prod is under work, and as a core I'll use thin ash veneers or maybe even carbon fiber. lets see.
According to literature, best wood for a core of a prod/bow is maple, birch, bamboo, maybe elm (not sure, but I'd try).

    Sairaj,

Suspect hey i mean how to cut fiberglass prod

    You know...

From now on, this is your new forum >>> Google.com Laughing ...and I'm VERY serious about this.

Here is your question >>> Google Search: How to cut fiberglass?

Which will give you over 20,800,000 answers in under a second. What does this say about the quality of your question? It says one thing - You are not ready for this place....I tried to hint it to you, but you are a stubborn guy.
    Fantasy Style Crossbow 928233731 *dig a hole...dig a hole*

On this forum...I don't want quantity...I want quality and preferably GOOD quality.

Another crap post from you - it will get deleted without any warnings. Don't take offense Wink ...it just means that your questions have been answered a couple of MILLION times already and can be found through Google.com or even the Search button on this forum.

    Have a nice day,

    Ivo
