So, did a little cut-out around a axle-hole like the bow in the museum but have some troubles.
Making the flower peace to match the cut-out is nearly impossible!
Could it be possible that in the old days they mixed sawdust from the ivory with glue to make a cement and smear that in and work it after it is dry?
Or do i just have to make it fit?

Anyone with the book of the royal dutch army museum might have some clues? I should probably buy it myself but it is verry expencive here!

    Thanks

Ferdi, I have that book, but it is at home and I am at the office. I will take a look later today. But, from my experience in inletting materials, you cut the material (wood, etc) after creating the item you wish to inlay first. Making it fit later is very hard. Maybe you can create a larger or different flower design instead? Dane

    Ferdi,

Place a piece of thin cardboard over your cutout on tiller, then with the blunt end of a screw driver handle rub it vigorously over the cardboard and this should leave the impression of your cutout on the backside of the cardboard that you can cut out for a pattern. I have done similar to make patterns for gaskets.

Today i did the first one.
Because i made it the wrong way around it doesnt fit proper.
Mixed the glue with sawdust from the same material and put it in the tiller.
Tomorrow sanding wil show if it works.

Okay, so i went for a whole different kind of approach here, mostly because i only have bits and peaces left of the domino's, whas barely able to finish the top of the tiller...
Hole needs to be cut out so dont focus on the middle.
The first i did broke when i tried to make the hole.
Engraving some lines later wil make it more pretty i think.
    To be continued..
