    Hey,
I'm a new member to the forum. I was interested in building a medieval style crossbow and from searching around a little bit on the web, I found this site and even just reading it has been very helpful so far. I settled on building something based on the Skane crossbow to get my feet wet and learn the basics and plan to move on to more complicated/sexier designs afterwards. I currently live in San Francisco but am moving to LA very soon, so if there are any members nearby, I'm definitely down to learn or just shoot.

Also, is there a thread on the forums that is just for pictures of other member's crossbows? I've seen some of yours in various threads and many of them are beautiful. A single thread with a collection of all of them would be great to browse through.

    Welcome to the forum.
This is the right place if you want to learn and gain knowledge of the crossbow.
I don't think there is a thread for just pictures. Many are posted through out the forum topics. Research the topics and you will find many pictures of awesome crossbows.
Good luck with your build, and keep us posted on your progress. Post pictures, we all like pictures!!

    Welcome from me, too.

I'm originally from LA, and there is one group you may want to hook up with. They meet once a month in Pasadena, at a public archery range. It is a mixed group of primitive archers, atlatalists, and primitive skills folks, great group of people who I am sure would welcome you. The always have builds going on, lots of materials, etc. You can find details on Paleoplanet, under the World Atlatls Association area of the Paleo website. http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/forums/24/World-Atlatl-Association-General-Discussion-Forum is the link to that section. Tom Mills is the guy to contact regarding that group, his screen name there is PaleoAleo. Join Paleoplanet, free, and write to him. He'd be happy to give you dates, directions, etc.
