    Hello from Anchorage ,Alaska
I'm a trad archer, build my own bows an arrows, also do some blacksmithing
Been playing the fiddle for 32 years, lived in Alaska since 1968. Hunt, fish, ski, kayak,
All the outdoor stuff. I post a lot on Paleoplanet and have about 16 articles on Primitiveways. Did a lot of mountaineering in my youth, 64 years old, 3 sons, 5 grand kids. I read Ralph Pain Gallway's book" The Cross Bow" about 15 years ago and built the 600 lb steel prod bow he describes in the book. After shooting it a bit I broke the string and my wood windless and hung the bow on the wall. Just recently I've realized I have a lot more skills under my belt, so I took down the cross bow, built a new Dynema string,
made a new metal windless, then made a cocking lever, rear sight and brass bolt keeper. The bow is now much easier and faster to cock and load. My bolts weight about 2 1/2 oz. out of 1/2" poplar dowel x 16" long. The bow shoots much faster than it did with the heavy thick hemp string I originally had on it. I'll try to post some pics cheers fiddler49
