Hey guys how are we all
Anyhow i thought i would post on here my project since it is my first go at building a crossbow and so far it is turning out well yet i do need some help/info.
So the main problem is the weight of the spotted gum so to reduce weight im cutting the shoulder stock of and building a steel frame which also comes to my reverse cable puller. Has anyone built the cable puller into the crossbow and have it work? my idea is some what like that Swiss crossbow but the bow/arm does not move and is apart of the stock but hinges forward to grab the cable. If anyone has any ideas that would be great and i can put a few pics up on my design so far.

As I was reading your post 2 ideas came to mind.
Drill holes in stock to reduce total mass of the wood. Long holes or channels in the butt stock maybe?
Second was to build a cranquin gear box into butt stock but have crank handle and draw bar removable. Maybe crank fits into butt stock and draw bar into fore end when you are loaded?

Sorry for the late reply have been away, anyhow thank you for the useful information on the cocking levers yet after finishing my first crossbow i was faced with many issue's. But im already started on a new design that will be a bull-pup smg of the sort ill put up a pic of the design, the bull-pup trigger i found on here somewhere that caught my eye straight away. In my crossbow desgin you will be able to see the cocking lever i was trying to explain.

Also 8fingers i can get what your getting at but the overall weight once it was done was quite light but made it too weak and when i cocked it for the first time i some how manged to snap the stock across the hand-grip but its all good. And i was thinking of the cranquin but i like a lever action that is built into the crossbow and on my new desgin the lever arm will be sitting above the string.
