Just thought I would pass this along. Tod is doing a build along of one of my favorite crossbow styles, the Latchet Crossbow, on My Armoury.

That guy has some serious skill when it comes to building about anything medieval.

It's a fact. Tod is a fine craftsman.

An intersting crossbow and some great craftmanship there, the trigger mechanism especially.
It's good to have someone with his skill willing to document and describe his builds.

I've also met Tod a couple of times at a reenactors market near where I live and had the chance to view some of his 'munitions grade' crossbows there and get some advice on building my own.

Here is a video of the bow in action. Looks nice but has almost no power stroke.

The stroke only seems short when you compare it to bows with thinner limbs. This is a pretty stout little bow. I have the feeling that he has pretty much nailed the working proportions. I think if he tried to get a longer stroke out of it, the safe working life of the limbs would be greatly reduced.

Mac - I agree. The bow is using limb strength instead of draw length to get some speed but it just looks odd. But it just compared to what I'm used to seeing.
