    Cosmoline is the devil

Post by crimbizzle on Mon Mar 04, 2013 2:07 pm

I got to make some sawdust and it was amazing!!!

No crossbow work, my school schedule is just too insane for me to get that much time in my shop, but I did pick up an old M-53 Mosin Nagant and spent an afternoon stripping it of 50 years of gunk and grime. Sanding sanding sanding and finally staining and oiling. It's on it's fifth coat of tung oil and starting to look like a respectable little rifle.

Mosins are great fun. I have a 3-line Mosin (Tula, then used by Finland with appropriate modifications and markings) built in 1895 and a 91/30 built in 1944. Both are so much fun and accurate. Extremely rugged and simple, and reliable.
