This update is on problems that I have come across so far. When I decided to build this bow,I realised that the cams would present the biggest problem, and so far it has proved to be so.The cams can be made completely by hand,if you have the skills, but the expenditure of time is huge,as I am finding out. Machining for me has become essential. The problem is machining the groove on the cam.Patandjali has solved the problem by grinding out the grooves I decided to do the same and purchased a grinding disc that is supposed to work on aluminium.Unfortunately, the hole in the centre of the disc is larger than any of the angle grinders,or spare bearinged shafts that I have so I will have to make or find a spacer.
I also obtained a leaf spring set from an old jeep Cherokee, when I took the leaf spring set apart, the leaf that I was planning to use broke in half without any help from me.If anyone is planning on using used leaf springs please be carefull,I was lucky, the spring broke before I had put much work into it,and I was even luckier that it did not break when the bow was in use.I'm sure we all have heard about metal fatigue,I was both lucky and unlucky enough to see an actual example.
