How to make a miniature medieval crossbow Empty How to make a miniature medieval crossbow

Post by El Zurdo Fri Nov 25, 2016 9:46 am

    Hello everyone, Very Happy

I introduce myself "El Zurdo", I am French. I live Istres a city of the South-East of France.
Be indulgent with me please, I speak and I write very badly your beautiful language.
I would be grateful if you could use simple words and not use too much slang or contractions because I would have a hard time understanding you.
Which would be a shame for me!  Embarassed

My nickname "El Zurdo", simply because I am left-handed and if I believe my family and friends not so awkward as the legend says!  Wink

I manufacture functional miniature weapons on my free time. My YouTube channel is of interest because few craftsmen make this type of weapon.
To see my creations tap in the YouTube search bar "Gilles Lavandera" or "Comtedelanorena"

That's why I registered on the forum. This forum of enthusiasts full of knowledge with which I hope to exchange opinions and share the knowledge and problems around this very strange art that is miniaturization...

I recently built a medieval crossbow at 1/6 scale for a Texan collector.
With this crossbow, I set a world record distance of 49.21 yd. But the bolt could pull much further.

If you are interested in this type of crafts I would be happy to answer your questions. I would not hesitate to ask you questions, because it is only my third medieval crossbow and I miss a lot of knowledge.

Hope you like this new topic. EL Zurdo

Hi dude, you are the first member of arbalist guild to post a comment on my topic, thank you very much!  All 10\'s

Of course I will continue! First of all by showing you the videos of making this medieval crossbow.

Next, I would open another topic for my new creation. This is a "Baby Scorpyd", which I will realize at the scale 1/6.
It will have a laser pointer, an integrated arming system like "AcuDraw" and vibration dampers of the rope, carbon bolts, in short the total set!  Cool

Welcome! Impressive work, and thanks for posting the how-to's...you're a very skilled craftsman. As a metalworker myself, I know forging some of these parts is not easy, even at regular size!

I think I have seen photos of your work before, in my endless googling of medieval crossbow pix Razz ...in fact, I suspect I used one of your mini-crossbows as a visual model of attractive tiller shape while building my own. The workmanship was so precise, I didn't realize it was miniature at first!

Thank you my friend, the best compliment that can be made to a miniature craftsman is that his work resembles so mistaken with scale 1.  Very Happy

Happy New Year 2017 to everyone!  How to make a miniature medieval crossbow Icon_king

Just a little post to tell you the links of 4 new videos that show the manufacture of crossbow accessories.

Thus you will be able to better appreciate and understand the techniques used in their manufacture.

    Friendly, Gilles
