So. Here I am, with a determination for making my first practical flipper crossbow, but without any detailed plans.
I have a general idea of what I am going to build. The reason for choosing this design is that it looks more newbie-friendly than the more complex designs I have come across, with google image and youtube diy searches.
(Cannot put it as an image due to noob restrictions)
I will attach a butt to it though. I plan to use a single-action revolver trigger with it, and failing that, will settle on a simple lever system I saw on these forums.
What I want to know from you experts:
1- Considering that I would be using keekar wood, strengthened with thin aluminum plating on top and bottom, what is the maximum power this design can safely be worked with?
2- Should I build it with rubber or springs? Personally I find it more comfortable to work with rubber. Reason being that I can cut the rubber flaps as I want, but springs would of course be modular.
3- What should be the size ratio between the base plate and the flippers?
4- Where should I put the joint on the flippers?
5- Any trigger design which is both; easy to build and has an easy pull? Cosmetics are no issue. It can be as ugly as a squinted mountain troll, but should easy to operate.
I am waiting to read from you experts.
