Hi all,
I started an IRC channel, #crossbow on the irc.freenode.net network. Although it's primarily for discussions about crossbow building (as these forums), it's also for socializing, so feel free to go off-topic if you feel like it. I'll be there most of the time under the name "mattock". However, as always with IRC, the key is to be patient if you want to get answer or discuss stuff: people are not active on the channel all the time (even if they are logged in).
To join the channel, you need an IRC client. Then you setup a username for yourself, connect to the irc.freenode.net server and join the #crossbow channel. At the moment the channel is unregistered, meaning it's not possible to, say, kick or ban unwanted users (e.g. spammers). This can, however, be fixed relatively easily.
As Freenode officially supports only open source / open content IRC channels, officially our #crossbow channel is/will be tied to the Crossbow Building Wiki project. This keeps Freenode happy.
See you on the channel!
Basileus a.k.a. mattock
