    Hello Everyone,
    I ran across this forum while I was looking for ways to build a crossbow. I read some of the post from other members and I figured that this might just be the place I need to be at to learn how to make my first but hopeful not my last crossbow. I am very eager to learn all there is to learn and I am also full of questions, so please bare with me. I look forward to getting to know a lot of you through the processes to come in my first build.

    Welcome;

    What part of Colorado? I'm new here too, and have been scoping out all the goodies. On the right side of the page is a list of suppliers of bits and pieces; Alchem and Darkwood are still active. Over there also is the Crossbow Building Wiki, some of which leaves a great deal to be desired and a great deal of work to be done. There is also a link to Crossbowman's Den; a really great source of information.

    The New World Arbalest site, had a fabulous amount of info, and they build some gorgeous bows. Geezer, the owner and slave driver Rolling Eyes , signs on here a lot, and has good answers to our questions.

    Reading the pages of Topics in the Medieval section will get you a lot of information too, expecially on roller locks.

    One of the simpler bows, it seems is the Skane style with its push-pin lock; not great if you want a 300# bow, but it seems to be a good place to start.

    Hope your journey is a lot of fun.
