My First "flipper"

Hello Friends


As a matter of fact I am trying to build a flipper...Why?! First of all I was enthusiasmed with some of them made for members of this forum...


Just now, it is not finished but I tested and using spring coils, each with a power of 8 Kilos the shoots are amazing in my opinion!

The "weapon" use a pin trigger...it works very well. It is not fixed yet...



I would like to know your opinion of my strange carbine...

Octavioagusto; I built one of the same  flipper. I used divers rubber 5/8" in dia. Mine pulls about 150 plus US pds. I use a red dot sight. Wicked machine . I took some  ideas from Jeep and went on from there.I love working with the ideas from this site. It's a great way for an old man to while away.

Yes, I am 78 years old and Jeep has made a very interesting flipper. I saw it here...Nice.
You see I am working with wood...I am not any conditions at home to work with metal, but no problem. I consult this excellent forum to catch ideas...

In spite of my 2º cancer I try to be occuped. I made also before conventional homemade crossbows buying the bows...

Nice work!   I think you could draw the arms back even further to use its maximum capability. Greater travel of the swing arms is the advantage the inswinger has over the traditional "outswinger " ballista. At the moment you are wasting a bit of its possibility.

Good point Roylnd; More could be gained but, the brackets on the stock would need stiffening. Possible a block of wood in front of them. They seem to lean forward. Nice work Octavio.

A little history concerning this amazing experiment. Two or three year ago, I tried to build a carbine using the simple technology of a slingshot launching flechettes...I build an pretty stock...but the results were very poor...

Then some days before I cut the stock...

And I begin To make a small flipper...it was an experimentation to lauch small darts...

And it works! Yes I need to make strong with more length of the arms...but I was very anxious to see the results...

And I follow with my poor project...making a support for give pression to the dart using plastic...

The piece is now mounting as the springs...

Not bad as you see (distance, inside at home, about 12 meters...)

Where the bowstring is retained...a block of pine is very weak too...

But this weapon is just a prototype...Now I intent to make one new weapon definitevely using metal or wood reforced with allu and with the central ruler longer as the limbs or arms. The piece to retain the bowstring it will be made of allu too, and it is my ideea to lunch arrows...

No so strong as a carbon bow this mechanism is funny and more easy to control as my tools...
