My first build is almost ready to shoot and I was wondering what methods you guys use to string the prod?

Light-weight bows can sometimes be flexed enough by hand/foot pressure to get a string on. With heavier draw weights, a common method is to use a second, slightly-too-long bowstring to flex the bow enough to get the 'real' string on. (This is called a "bastard" string...seriously! Razz ) Some prods have a second pair of nocks to make this easier, but with others (like the Alchem steel prods) the bastard string has to be clamped on near the tips of the limbs.

Try searching the site for "prod bracing" and "bastard string" for more info. Bracing a new prod is always exciting...good luck!

Thank you OrienM for the quick answer, I'll start searching right now. The prod I'm using is a alchem prod. It was rated at 125-145 lbs. although the prod itself is stamped with the number 155.
