Just a quick note to let you all know that I have just finished Basilisk's Maximilian.
Not posting the photos till after he receives it, so that he has the first look...
I'll be packing it up tomorrow, and we'll send it the day after.

Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas, Basilisk!

Here are the much promised pictures. While it hasn't shown up quite yet I didn't want to keep anyone else waiting. I know you all are just getting so impatient for them.

All I have to say so far is WOW it looks nice, I'll add more when I get it in my hands
Lightly, if your going to be at Estrella again I will try to have some homemade cider for you. Hopefully, my last several batches have had issues. But I think I know what went wrong and am going to fix it. I think the cider was getting contaminated during the bottling process.

Going home for lunch for the win! cheers

The crossbow was waiting for me when I got home. And it looks even better in person. The only drawback is I have to get back to work and can't get a test firing in. Maybe tomorrow but certainly on Friday. I can comment on one thing. it has a different feel than my other crossbow, not better or worse but different. I should have expected that as both bows have very different stock shapes and different mass distributions.

Congrats to you Basilisk120, and compliments to the New World Arbalest DONE! (Basilisk's Maximilian) 204712

Love how smooth and powerful it looks, is that a 200lb prod on it? And pins on the sides of the stock suggests a goats-foot lever? Do tell more... Smile

The prod is around 150lb. Yeah I plan on getting a goats foot lever when I get some more cash. It doesn't need the goats foot lever but I wanted to get the lever because they are cool and are period and I wanted to try one out.

So glad you like it, Basilisk! I did a bunch of extra's for fun, put in the brass thumb marks on the top, an end cap of bone, a bit of bone around the trigger, and made the 'fancy' lockplates, the ones that more resemble a hawk's head.

Not sure I will be at Estella, last one was not profitable, I sold two bows only. (one being to some guy who wanted a different prod! Very Happy ) I found out that the majority of bows were the... oh darn, what are they... Fellwalkers, I think, used in that Kingdom. And my bows were rarely given a second glance. That trip, fun as it was, cost me ...

It might be worth it for Cider, tho!
