    Hello all,
My name is Paul I am 34 and I live in Franklin Indiana in the US. I have been a traditional archer for 20 plus years and have been into slingshot for several years as well. I have been making my own bowstrings, arrows and other accessories for as long as I can remember. I am a Millwright by trade so i have no problem with technical and precision things. I am currently working on organizing my new garage for a workshop and hope to build a couple of crossbows, some new longbows, ALOT of new slingshots, and a few cannon as well.

Welcome Paul, what kind of longbows have you made? I myself am also a tradional archer and have made a few selfbows and ILF style risers. Any ideas on what kind of crossbow you are thinking of building?

    Greetings Paul,

I'm a Indiana resident, too, I live in Bloomington. I also got my start with traditional and then primitive archery and expanded to crossbows. I've also got a ballista project going. Welcome to the forum!

The longbows I have made are laminate wood and glass. I have also made a couple of small ash selfbows. I am not really sure what style of crossbow I want to make. I guess as long as it turns out well and is a good shooter I will be happy with it I have picked up 3 books 2 older ones and one newer one that I hope will help me. I had a 150lb barnett recurve crossbow years ago when only handicapped licensed hunters could use them and I had it mostly for my grandpa to use. He never used it so it was more of " Hey look I have a crossbow and noone else does"...lol... I like the archery aspect of weaponry because it can all be made of available materials. Although I think I could make my own gunpowder finding the compnents to do so is time consuming and not as easy as archery components.
