Windage & Elevation Empty Windage & Elevation

    Post by robert.collard.5 Sat Mar 23, 2013 11:26 am

Something I whipped up for my crossbow. Need two parts: One friction toy box lid support and a leftover threaded eye bolt for a sling swivel mount. A little cutting and drilling and it looks like this:
    Windage & Elevation Windag10
It folds down. Using tip of arrow as front sight it shoots five inchs high at 20 yards. A little Kentucky Windage and I have gotten several bulls eyes.

Nice work and very clever. 5" high at 20, maybe right on for 25 yards?

Not having a better range it is difficult to say. The Arc from bow to target at twenty yards is three inches for 200fps and you quoted 196fps for this same bow. I aim at the bottom of the outside ring of our winter targets for the SCA and it comes up to par. Really need a front sight, but, the SCA forbids it for Medieval targets. I get my points in anyway. I love this bow. I also added a sling with swivels that can be removed just leaving the studs. I bought a modern crossbow soft case that just fits for length and width, no room to spare.

Windage & Elevation Empty Front Sight

Basic parts are another Friction Lid support using the side mount and a thumbscrew with two brass knurled nuts. It folds down when not in use or for putting in the case.Windage & Elevation Front_10
