Post by Loosenuts Tue Dec 03, 2013 8:01 am

All started when i came upp with the idea to build a trigger mechanism. Dont ask me why    Then i wondered what i going to do with that. I came up with the idea to build a crossbow. The plan is to build a long range target shooter. 100+ yards.I have tried some shooting on 120 yards with pretty good result.  I have understand that it not so easy.

All input for precision is welcome. I have earlier practice benhrest with pretty long distances up to 540 yards.     My friend took down some birches a couple of years ago. Then i got some wood from him. Perfect, maybe i could build it with that?

I posted this project on another forum. But I do not think the members there are so interested to discuss building from scratch?

Got a tip from Todd the Archer on this forum Smile

After some rasping and sanding. Went pretty fast actually. The shape I took out freehand.

    Thanks Todd !

I think they are most interested to discuss new crossbows and accessories on the other forum?

We'll see if there will be some discussions here.

But there must be some problem with the forum. First i got my thread in someone else's thread? Then I put up several pictures in this thread. but they seem to have disappeared?

Not so fun to sit and write and post photos that then disappears.

I do see three pictures of the work on your stock.

Sometimes things are slow here then next thing you know a flurry of activity.

Welcome, Loosenuts. That's an interesting tiller, with the new foregrip it looks like an overgrown pump shotgun! So what about the trigger, and what kind of prod are you using?

    Loosenuts,
I don't know what part of the world you are from, or what resources you have ,but in passing I will mention to you that your forearm grip looks very much like upside down staircase railing ( the smaller size) ................might save you a little time in the future shouldyou look into it for future builds. You seem to have a specific direction you are going with your build and I to am looking forward to seeing your trigger mechanism. Nice work.

    Chaz.
Good idea. Maybe I can look up some different banisters and start mass production.
Most newer crossbows have simalair grip.
I'm from Sweden by the way.

Thanks Gnome. Yes i like the shot-gun style.

Here is the trigger mechanism i first made. But after that i have change the nut and the safety.
In sweden there is illegall to put a mechanism in the stock whithout license. So i have to wait to show you pictures of that until i got license.
