    HI all

I enjoy building replicas of old crossbows and am looking at building one of the 16th Century all medal crossbows that have a lever action to load the string.

But I am not finding any pictures or information on the trigger mechanism.

    Can any one help?

The crossbow in the pic is a German stonebow, fitted for shooting bolts. Take off the grooved track and replace the string with a double stone-string with pocket, and you can shoot baked clay balls or metal shot.  I think you can find diagrams of this sort of stonebow lock in Egon Harmuth's "Die Armbrust"  If not there,  it might be in Payne Gallwey's "The Crossbow"  Be a bit careful about using PG, though.  Sometimes his internal drawings are inaccurate.  Anyhow, you need to search for 'stonebows' or 'bullet bows'.  Have fun.  Geezer.

PG has a bit on stonebows but not enough depth to feel comfortable that I have the design of the trigger mechanism correct.
From other pictures, I have assumed that it is a 2 stage trigger mechanism that the bottom mushroom button is pressed to set the second stage.  Pulling the trigger forces the lower section lever up to trigger the second stage lever up through to the top section?

Does anyone have more information as to the internal workings?

For those interested, I managed to find a Russian site that had a drawing of the inner workings.
