Stirrups, how heavy? Design help needed Empty Stirrups, how heavy? Design help needed

Really anal questions. The stirrup supplied by my blacksmith is forged from 2mm mild steel and weighs 10oz.  I am in process of cleaning/filing/fine finishing.  Is the  weight in the right ball-park or do I need to file it down some?  Also, if anyone has photos of  late15th century oval stirrups I'd love to see them.

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

Stirrup weight?  You ask Mr. Know-it-all about stirrup weight?  I am horrified to acknowledge that I have Absolutely No Idea.  Have never had a chance to handle an un attached stirrup, much less weigh them. Have seen some photos.  I'll look thru my pics and see if I can find examples. Geezer.

Thanks Geezer, much appreciated,  I just don't want to ruin the feel of the crossbow  by hanging a too heavy stirrup off the lath
