    Hello everybody

After 30 years shooting firearms, I have lost the interest, because as a gunowner the life over here becomes harder and harder.

This was the reason why I started shooting crossbows. While normaly shooting 30 metres match crossbow, I've discovered my interest in the medieval constructions. I am new to this hobby and I hope to learn a lot here in this forum.

    Greetings from the Swiss mountains

Hey and welcome to the forum.
Swiss mountains? There must be some beautiful scenery up by your place. I miss real forests, not too many trees here in the desert.
I feel your pain on increasingly restricive firearm laws. But that is a debate for anouther day. Though I will say that I do like being able to test out changes in my backyard with out scaring all my neighbors. Razz

    Hello Blacknight and welcome !
If you think forumhelp becomes too theoreticly, i suggest you to contact Europes best crossbowbuilder of Hornbowed crossbows, Andreas Bichler in Wienna, Österrich. He lives relatively close and can presumably help you more practicly. Very nice guy too.
And please visit the meeting of "Intressegemeinschaft Historische Armbrust" in Dresden next year. A lot of exelent crossbowbuilders there Very Happy

    Thank you for the welcome!

Well, the Swiss mountains are not that nice today... relatively cold and wet weather. But when the sun is shining we have a nice panorama. Over the winter I would often wish to be somewhere in a desert. At least when we have a "white out"...

The Twinbow design is truly unique, but I think I would prefer the TAC15 when it comes to modern, non-competition designs... Very Happy

Thanks for the tip Vidar. Vienna is truly very near... in comparision to America... and especially they talk my native language over there in Österreich.

    All the best

I´ll let you know when the "crossbowbuildingmeeting" in Dresden will take place next year.
I´ll meet you there with a lot of the best medieval crossbowbuilders in the world.
For example Mr Ingo Lison. see his webpage www.armbrust-manufaktur.de

Glad to see that first day already yields useful information. Smile

Twinbow, PSE-TAC, or thise little guys...

Each has it's good and not so good qualities, the beauty of building your own is that you can consciously and absolutely independently take what is best in every design and combine it in your own creation.

It's only a matter of how far you are willing to go. Hello from Switzerland 728780 Smile

Best of luck and happy building,

    Ivo
