Hello from Cold Lake Alberta, Canada. I am just in the planning stages of my very first build. Granted my creation is intended for the rather unprestigeous SCA combat field for my daughter. But I figure there is no reason that even then that crossbows need to look like modified rubber band guns from a country fair vendor. Prods may be light and some design aspects and materials not entirely period, but there is no reason the rest can't be done right. And who know where it will go from there Twisted Evil (Yeah, I'm a bit of an obsessive personality, and would like a nice target crossbow for my own use, and there are so many intersting styles.)

Hello Gary D and welcome to The Arbalist Guild.

Your project sounds interesting and perhaps will be an exemplary piece for those still using the rubber band crossbows.

I think you should go ahead and start a topic right away to help you with the planning in the "Design discussion" section and eventually the materialization of the things planned in our "Crossbow Workshop". Sounds like fun and I'd love to help out.

Make your daughter proud man! Very Happy

    Ivo
