    Hey guys,

Been off the forum for a while, sharing the misfortune with 8fingers here Smile...one of those days when everything is falling apart finally got to me and a diamond disk shattered sending some shrapnel into my hand.

Anyway, healing up pretty well and thought I'd drop by and share something new with you guys.

I'm always on a lookout for crossbow building groups from around the world and just happened to stumble upon one today when visiting my friend's archery forum ("ЗАПАСНОЙ АЭРОДРОМ")

The forum I found is a Finnish archery forum with a crossbow section. Pretty interesting bunch to say the least, you have to see for yourself. Smile

Thanks. That place looks interesting, When I get some free time I'll have to give it a look.

Hope your hand gets better, that doesn't sound too fun

Ow, Ivo... hoping your hand heals quickly and well....

Thanks for that link, Geezer and I spent some time (when we should have been working, but hey! It's 'research', right?!) going thru the forum, and looking at the drawings and photos of old bows. We base our 5F (finnish) bows on bows like these. I loved that there were some illustrations of the carving, as well, that looks simple enough that I can try it, and see how it looks. Thanks very much for this link...

    Absolutely! Laughing

I really like skinny bows and those Finnish bows fit the profile. I've registered on their forum..took me a while with the language barrier and all, now waiting for the Admin to activate my account. Rolling Eyes Can't wait to stop by and say "Haloo".Finnish Crossbow Forum 58024

This forum was offline for over a year due some registration mishap.
The archives are now back online. (read only)

Propably most intersting thread for international audience- detail study of the crossbow on display in Finnish National Museum:

Including spectrographic analysis of the prod
    Finnish Crossbow Forum Naand776yttoand776kuva_2015_05_26_kello_190022_476
Showing zero carbon content. Apparently the whole prod is wrapped in sheet of soft iron.

The club has since set up a new forum ,

but crossbow section is not yet very active
