Hi, i am a bowmaker from British Columbia. So far i've made well over a hundred bows of various materials and styles, and lately got the bug to try crossbows. It's a natural step considering i've been making my bows shorter and shorter over the last year or so. I've got 3 prods of sinew-backed yew waiting for their 2nd application of sinew, and waiting for a stock, so that gives me time to learn as much as i can. This forum seems very informative and i am glad i found it!

Re: hello from BC
thanks guys!
i won't be a stranger. Yeah, for now i want to build medieval crossbows but weighted for hunting. I'm into steel-working and woodworking, so this should be a blast.
um...where do i start?

Re: hello from BC
Hey and welcome to the site. Beautiful country in BC, spent some time up there, it was lots of fun.
For insperation I like looking at New World Arbalest
They have some good stuff there and Iolo's First book of Crossbows is always a fun read. If you poke around the site they have posted some some pics of their, well Lightly's, work in progress.
There are a lot of different styles so just keep you eye's open for one that suits your fancy. And if you have any question about they just ask.
