For those of you who may be interested, this is a fantastic project being undertaken in France. They are building a medieval castle using strictly medieval technologies, tools, and materials. There is a lot to explore here, and I find it facinating all the way around. What a wonderful location to have a crossbow competition or event. You can even take part in the building of this project. Check out the video and the additional information. Someday, I hope to get over to Europe again, and will want to visit this project.

is a good youtube video of the project. All manual labor, horses to transport materials, all the tools are made on site, and they expect this will take 25 years to complete. I would give a lot to be part of such a project.

    You are right Stoneage!!!!!!

It is an incredible project very very impressive and all following the periods techniques....They also recreate the atmosphere. I have been lucky to visit the place .Would not surprise anybody here to see a period soldier carrying a composite crossbow!!!

Merci, Jeep. I envy that you have visited! Id give my right arm to be hired to work here in some capacity, as a woodworker (or a men-at-arms). Someone has to defend the castle, after all Smile They get to live the life every day. The only things at odds seem to be the safety shoes and glasses, but I can understand that.

Thanks for sharing. That is awesome. It is really cool to watch the stuff being made in the old way.

Glad you liked it. Setting up a crossbow making shop on this building site would be tremendous.
