Moose antler stem question Empty Moose antler stem question

I just got a nice hunk of moose antler for roller nuts and socket reinforcements. Anyway, looking at it I was wondering if I could use the portion below the knobbly bit of the rosette. It looks to be fairly solid, if maybe I cut the outer 2 or 3mm off of that sort of pithy end bit, I could probably get a roller nut starting right there. Thoughts? Oh yeah, in the photo you can see some cat hair on the end of it. Apparently moose antler has EXTREME catnip-like effects on cats. Clearly I have to keep the chunk of antler locked up away from them lest I come home and find it covered in slobber and teeth marks.

Moose antler stem question Empty Moose horn stem

Geezer here: Congratulations on your moose-horn stem. In answer to your question, you can use all the moose-horn stem that is wide enough to turn your roller. It's all good. That's one of the great things about moose horn. Geezer
