Looking to sell a few spare parts I have lying around. Among other crafts I've done blacksmithing and metalwork for 20+ years; these components were made in my home shop a few years back. They're fully functional, but not quite what I was looking for...I'd love for them to go to someone who can use them, and hopefully make a few $$ to put towards my next crossbow build.
First up is a hand forged steel prod; a 24" long, 1/4" thick and tapered prod with rolled ends, supplemented with three laminates of sawblade steel to increase the draw weight. The steel in the forged portion is 5160/recycled leaf spring, carefully hardened in oil and tempered as a spring. A dacron string, with hemp serving and leather ends, is also included. Actual draw weight of the prod was never measured, but it definitely pulls over 100# (giving it everything I have by hand) at about 8". It creaks fairly loudly when drawn, due to the lams sliding against each other, but that may not be a major issue for non-hunters. I'd like to get $100 for this, plus shipping.
Next up is this lightly used two-axle type trigger mechanism, a complete set ready to install: 1 1/2" dia. aluminum roller nut with steel sear, hand-forged rocker bar, trigger, trigger guard, and sideplates, along with all the pins, screws and hardware. I'm also including a piece of the original bow's tiller with all the relevant holes drilled, to use as a model for making new parts, and the steel 'nose ring' used for spanning with a wippe lever. It safely holds 100#+ of draw weight and has a comfortable, easy trigger pull. The finish work is quite rough, but the parts could easily be polished up nicely by somebody willing to put the work in. I'd like $60, plus shipping, for the set.
Please PM me here on the site with any questions, etc. For payment I'd prefer to use PayPal...I might also consider trades for crossbow-related materials, such as attractive pieces of lumber large enough to carve a tiller from, bone slabs, moose antlers, sinew or other such goodies.
Thanks for looking!
