Roller nut details Empty Roller nut details

Post by crusader Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:40 pm

    hey guys,

I want to make a rollernut out of antler.

    I already bought a piece.

my question is, are there any pictures of an original roller nut? and then I care about the details, like the reinforement where the trigger hits the roller nut.

There are a few threads about roller nut construction on this site, a quick search should be helpful. I soaked the one I made recently in a resin based glue

Hi, looking at what you have produced you are on the right track. However, it looks like you have used part of the antler just above the coronet. If you could get the pedicle part of the scull (the dense bone part of the skull that supports the antlers) you will find it is less fibrous. You may need to get a skull from an older stag, maybe a 12 pointer to get a piece of pedicle large enough.
