I am looking for any images of european steelbows before 1500, I havnt found any myself, but maybe you people have some, drawings, paintings, archeological findings or even existing examples...

Steel prods before 1500. That can be done...
According to William Paterson's "A Guide to the Crossbow" steel crossbows show up in written records as early as the mid 14th century.
Off the top of my head, the famous Maximilian and Louis XII bows from
the Hofburg in Vienna date to the late 15th century, but they are right
on the borderline.
I believe Schloss Grandson in Switzerland has at least one big Flemish Arbalest with bow-irons and steel prod, that dates to the Burgundian Wars, (@ 1470). I saw that one in Eugene Heer's little book on Swiss Crossbows. Let me look around a bit and I'll find more.

thanks Geezer, I am familiar with the maximillian bow, and other early 16th century, ( I belive the maximilian is dated 1505?) but the one from Grandson I havn't heard about, I would be most grateful for any photos or links.. Ill look up the books you mention.
