    SB113 String Empty SB113 String

Post by Stonedog Mon Jan 19, 2015 6:06 pm

    All-

I have an SB 113 prod and need to make a new string.

I have made endless strings for my long bows before and have Dacron already...making one own strings aren't a problem.

How long (total length) do I need to make the string???

    SB113 String Empty make string

Post by c sitas Mon Jan 19, 2015 6:59 pm

It would take two people but, I would make a basturd string and pull the prod up to what the brace should be. Now is when you need the other person. While you adjust your pull to get the brace height  he,or she could measure from nock to nock . I wouldn't be afraid to go slightly longer , say 1/4 or 3/8". Reason being you can twist to make shorter ,but not longer. I'm an older archer and I help out a few that either can't afford to buy or just want to rebuild an older bow. I would use Dacron material. You can buy it off the net if you have trouble finding it. I would also add that cheap poly bailer twine can be used for the try string. I do it a lot. I'm not saying everything I do is perfect and completely up to spec. I'm saying use your head here.

SB113 String Empty Re: SB113 String

Post by septua Mon Jan 19, 2015 7:48 pm

The last string I made was for a SB112 with a deflex of just 1/1/8” which is 3/8” less than my SB102. Both of these prods are supposedly the same except for the thickness. My SB102 has the recommended brace of 3-1/2”, therefor I achieved that with a string of 27” between pins on the string jig. So the SB112 string was made 27-1/4” which gave me a brace of 3-1/8” which allows for the deflex difference.  As soon as I have the photos I will post them of my cheap and wonderful worm gear bow brace which makes the required string measurement easy.
