Re: My Newest Crossbow
Sorry about the first two images, i was just figuring out how to upload the pictures, anyway, the prod is fiberglass backed white oak, its 42"long and braced at 2" with an 11" powerstroke, the stirrup is jute wraped with hemp and the string is paracord, it has a draw weight of 77 pounds but i think i will settle down on 70, and it has a phisical weight of 2.5 pounds, the stock is alder and the rail is walnut.

Re: My Newest Crossbow
Very nice Skane bow you've got there. The inletted walnut rail looks really well done, and I like the simple hemp/jute stirrup.

Re: My Newest Crossbow
Onager Lovac: congratulations on your new push-pin bow. It looks quite workable and profoundly primitive. Jute cord for a stirrup? I've never cared for jute much.... too hairy and weak, but served with hemp, it might serve very well as a stirrup-loop and it certainly looks right. Be sure to relieve the corners of the lock/notch a bit so it doesn't eat the string serving too much. And enjoy. Geezer.

Re: My Newest Crossbow
Thanks guys, Geezer i was actually going for a primitive crossbow without metal or modern materials but i broke that rule with the fiberglass backing , and Xamllew i see you have used jute for a stirrup before, i got the idea from a vid on youtube and decided to make one but the one i saw was one single material, jute in kinda ugly so at the last minute i decided to wrap it with hemp and it turned up quite nice looking.
