Sick homemade compound crossbow Empty Sick homemade compound crossbow

Post by leu Mon Sep 10, 2012 2:35 pm

    Hi,

I'm planning to build a homemade compound crossbow for quite a while now and recently watched this youtube video. So basically I want to try to build a crossbow like that. For the trigger mechanism and maybe even the guiding rails I might be abled to convince a friend to make them, he's in the metal working industry, but I think he won't be abled (or too lazy) to build me that cams and the holdings. So is there a place to buy just the cams+holdings and not a complete compound crossbow? Or do you think he (the guy in the video) "recycled" an old one? I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I really want to build something I can have fun with because I somehow hate just working on my desk job all day and not really "create" something if you know what I mean. However here is a more detailed pic:

p.s. I really hope someone can help me with those cams. =S

p.p.s. The "arms" are recycled ice hockey sticks. Seems to work nice though.

You should be able to buy "replacement cams" from any compound bow manufacturer. Also Ebay has a bunch on offer -- if you know what you are looking for. Of course you may be able to find a cheap compound at a garage sale or of Craigslist and salvage what you want.

The arms seem to be a bit over overkill; but then I've never been a fan of compound bows.

I already searched some websites for cams but couldn't find any. And eBay filters anything weapon related in my country so I can't really use that source. Could you give me some links or is that asked too much Wink

Your name plate doesn't say where you're from; so I couldn't tell you're not American or even Canadian...

Here's a site that sells used archery equipment including cams:

...but if eBay filters out archery stuff in your country, I'm sure other sites will too. If stores sell archery equipment in your country, then they should be be to order cams.

Thanks that was exactly what I was looking for

    p.s.
I live in germany and they don't filter other sides for weapon related stuff just ebay and amazon where users can put in stuff, because a lot of people used those platforms to sell weapons to underaged people or parts to build guns without having a license and ebay got into a lot of trouble because of that, thats why they filter and ban everything gun related (except toys) here.
