Re: Reverse draw pistol crossbow
Yes. There might even be a pic or two on here somewhere. I designed two versions, one a inswinging pistol type with about 20" drawlength, and another design that most resembles the Gearhead crossbows that were supposed to come out about a year or so ago.
easiest way to make one is to get a new bull pup style Hickory Creek inline draw loc, and simply add your riser and levers. Ends up like a TAC15 pistol, railess and using a whisker bisket.
Equipped with a 50-75lbs draw weight and 20" powerstroke, there is some serious speeds happening there. Good luck with your build.

That sounds interesting, trying to picture it in my head. Sounds right up my alley!

Re: Reverse draw pistol crossbow
Don't picture it in your head. Hit up the Search button with all the hints Warhammer gave yo, it's all on the forum...and start sketching ideas!
PS: I coined a 1/2 stock bullpup pistol crossbow under Arbalisk...
...it's been done, but didn't have a dedicated name...sooo
https://thearbalistguild.forumotion.com/t551-pistol-crossbow-trigger-design#4857
With this setup you can take either the Gearhead
or Scorpyd system...
and you got a wicked bow.
Now to make it nice and organic looking....I got some sketches...but it's interesting what you come up with....possibilities are endless there.

Re: Reverse draw pistol crossbow
Here is a facebook pic of torsion pistol crossbow. It is all business with over 20" drawlength.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=142772729138325&set=a.142772692471662.36557.100002167974802&type=3&theater
Originally designed as a kickass torsion assist slingshot, with quad powerbands, 75lbs draw. Extended fork inswinging design for slingshot allows for some wicked speeds and projectile weight.
Its a simple thing to change string design and it operates just like the Gearhead. The torsion scorpyd crossbow gets 200fps with a 350 grain arrow using only 50 lbs pull. Fun toys.

Re: Reverse draw pistol crossbow
Has Gearhead archery even put anything into the production phase or is it all simply ooh look at this and that?

Don't think gearhead ever got the financial backing it needed to get started.

Re: Reverse draw pistol crossbow
Yes, thats a Scorpyd torsion. Could use a little more power, but 200fps in the house is plenty fast. Its a little wide, but have other versions as narrow as 15" inches axle to axle. Still gets over 20" of powerstroke. If ever a hunting pistol were to be produced, this is one design that would certainly have the performance needed.
No closeups, but features one piece top and bottom levers, uses a single extension spring for power. Optimized performance and design for 50lbs draw weight, attains 200fps with 350 grain arrow or approx 7 grains of arrow weight per lbs of pull. Each pound of pull produces 4 fps.
A 200 lbs modern recurve bow will shoot about 300fps using a 400 grain arrow, or approximately 2 grains of arrow weight per lbs of pull. Each lbs of pull produces about 1.5 fps arrow speed.

my computer does not like the youtube video channel I tried to get going either, or the site you use to park pics and vids. I tried both, but no luck. Just not worth the aggravation to me anymore.

Aha...and I'm here for shits and giggles? ...drop me a note with the specs of the computer, browser you're using, and the problem...and I'll see what I can do to help out. As medieval as the forum's direction may be...it still deserves some eye candy to go with the text... and you my friend, got some good stuff! (try to act like it )
