    Antler pedicle Empty Antler pedicle

Post by drawknife Mon Feb 18, 2013 3:19 pm

Hi, does anyone know of a good cheap source of antler pedicle in the UK?

I would like to make a rolling nut the way they used to be made using proper materials.

    Thanks.

Your best bet Is Highland Horn.
If you phone them and tell them what you want the antler for he will pick some out for you of the required size.
They're about £5 a pair and postage is about that too.

I've used them a couple of times and have been pleased with the service.

Hi, thanks for that. I have used Highland Horn Co before and the last time I contacted them they could not supply pedicle. Will try again. Thanks again

I use pedicle and find it to be harder and denser (and more traditional) than antler, and unlike red deer antler, it does not have any pithiness. It is also quite greasey, which gives it self lubricating properties. The trouble is finding pedicles that are wide enough. Only a mature stag has pedicals that are big enough. I got some monster pedicles from a velvet farm.
