    Fast loading crossbow

Post by msalazar2310 on Sun Apr 22, 2018 9:12 am

I would like to know if somebody knows more on the crossbow designed by that genius, Leonardo DaVinci. This weapon was called Balestra Veloce and is specially interesting because it can shoot 5 or 6 bolts in a minute.
In Internet, I saw some Italian pages that generally show how it works, however these Italians seem to be very jealous over this 500 year old invention and no details are given. It is amazing how fast the crossbow can be spanned by means of a lever integrated in the bottom of the stock (cocking goes faster than placing the bolt on the crossbow).
You can see these pages by typing balestra veloce

Somewhere there's a video of video of some costumed demonstrators cocking, loading and shooting such a crossbow.  I can't find anything here about them though...
