Stretcher

    A plus tard amis, Gilles!

    Hi guys,

I realized that I had put my last post in French. I found it surprising that no one reacted to this video. Here is the translated version>  Very Happy

In these troubled times by coronavirus pandemic Evil or Very Mad , i'm very happy to show you my latest creation.  Cool
The "V-Aspic", code name "KillCov-19"! It's a 1/6 scale "reverse draw" crossbow that I entirely designed and manufactured.
Between plans, tool making and numerous tests, it took me almost 4 months of work.
I worked 9 hours / day during the 7 weeks of confinement in France, here is the explanation of its code name!  Smile
It's composed of parts entirely machined from aeronautical aluminum (7075, 2017A).
The composite bows are high quality spring steel (V325) and carbon fiber.
The woodwork is in English yew, there are ivory and ebony pieces (skates and string stoppers).
Its powerfull is extraordinary, the 0.4 gram arrow (0.014 oz) has 40 m/s speed (131 fps ) or 787 fps at scale 1!
The arrow pierces 60 mm extruded polystyrene (XPS) or 80 mm of potato!
The precision is there. I shot 8 times at 19.7 feet (118 feet at scale 1), the maximum impact radius was 1/4 inch and 2/8 arrows drawn in the same hole!
This crossbow will soon be available for pre-order on my website.
I will communicate to you during the month of May the link of the site, I have not yet built it.
My business creation was delayed because of this damn pandemic.

That must of been really finicky since how small it is. It looks great that must of taken a lot of work.

    Thank you very much,

Yes, the manufacturing took a long time. I design and manufacture everything myself. I'm developing my initial idea and design according to the reality on the ground ... scratch
For example I made 3 pairs of different bows before finding the right compromise between strength and nervousness.
Capricious, not at all, I'm even amazed by regularity of shots.
I expected to consume a lot of strings and cables, it's not the case, it supports pretty well the empty shooting (the strings jump, that's all).
As with all miniature weapons you have to be careful when handling them. The slightest oversight in the arming protocol can result in a breakage or a (lesser harm) ripping the strings. This morning, I split barrel arrow and cut net 2 vanes because I had not pushed the nock fully into the string.
We are giants over 10 meters above this scale and with our big hands we sometimes make mistakes!   biggy

    Hi guys,

I edited the video of precision target shooting...
I'm tired of being a poor director, I prefer to be behind my workbench. AMAZING MINI CROSSBOW code name KillCovid-19 1f974
It's pretty amazing, if we compare the results to those of the best reverse draw crossbows on the market at scale 1, I don't think they do better!
6 arrows in the same hole at 36.75 yards, 5 arrows in a rectangle of 4.2 x 5.88 inch to 65.61 yard ...

Good viewing!AMAZING MINI CROSSBOW code name KillCovid-19 1f913

The level of accuracy that minature crossbow has is pretty impressive. While I am not much into very small weapons(no offense) I think they are cool when they are functional just as this one is. While they aren't as practical as larger sized crossbows they are more or less still just as cool. I think of these guys more as novelty items that's even smaller than the ballestrinos(assassin crossbows) people always talk about.

Thank you my friend, yes this crossbow works very well, I didn't expect such precision.  Shocked

In fact, if I could cock the crossbow identically with each shot all arrows would be in the same hole.

When I push the string with the cocking tool, the position cocking tool on the serving differs by a few tenths millimeter.

These few tenths millimeter are enough to slightly deflect the boom.

Yes my avatar is nice, I love Mad Max I was 15 when the first film was released.  Smile

What you need to know is that "El Zurdo" means left-handed in Spanish ... On my avatar Mad Max holds his shotgun on his right shoulder ...

What you don't see is that he points with his left hand a second double-barrel on your belly!  Wink

Seriously, if you could transfer that mechanism to a conventional pistol platform I think you'd have a 10m match target pistol crossbow!

Hi Andy, say hello to Max from me when you see him! You live in a very beautiful country, the roads are much straighter and longer than in France!Cool
Mechanism can be easily transposed to scale 1, I think it is ingenious and efficient (no clevis and joints).
Mechanisms that I design are adapted to requirements miniaturization. At 1/6 scale, we are elephants who handle a crossbow.
All my mechanical parts are oversized in strength (and therefore in weight).
7075 barrel is full while it's hollow on a 1/1 crossbow, bows are made of steel / carbon composite, because it is very difficult to make "full carbon" 2.5 mm (.1 in) thick, with 1 mm (.04 in) holes for pulley axes.
Weight is insignificant on my crossbow (a complete branch with pulley weighs 3.6 grams! .127 oz).
But at scale 1 all these characteristics would make pistol crossbow unnecessarily heavy and solid. AMAZING MINI CROSSBOW code name KillCovid-19 O7emq10
But yes, it's certain that it would work at scale 1.
