I have built a few crossbows and my goto design is push-pin lock with wood or wood/sinew bow.  I want to cost a modern target crossbow with bought-in bow and trigger, as I am in the UK can anyone recommend a UK or European supplier.

Also, any thoughts as to whether a decent push-pin or roller nut lock could be competitive?

It's not the hardware that makes a competitive shooter -- it;s the shooter's expertise with the equipment he has.

True,  but then, I don't shoot, I just make stuff that takes my fancy.  I don't fancy building a trigger-box or laminating modern limbs, metal and plastic are not my thing, though I do enjoy file work and engraving. Match crossbows are effectively banned in the UK with no governing body and so no insurance.  Target bows are limited to 95lb, sport bows to 150lb and then medieval bows have to be medieval - no sights, single or double axis roller nut or push pin lock, disguised prods to look no later than 1600 but no more than 253lb. Also, the nearest archery club that support crossbow are a 4 hour round trip for me.  If I actually plan on shooting I am going to have to form my own club. Not impossible but  bit of a pain all the same.
Despite all that, for some wierd reason, I fancy exploring the idea of a diy target crossbow that is able to compete on an equal footing

Found this thread by Crossfire with video interviews with the late Robin Allen. It answered many questions.

I have a set of plans for a competition crossbow but it's not that modern, 1960? possibly.
I'm in the UK if your interested in seeing them.
