    Hey guys,

I have my stock ready and want to finish it.

     I'm making a medieval crossbow.

What product do you use to finish the wood?

I would like to hear from you

Stock   Tiller    Since you're making a medieval style tiller, I recommend finishing it with either boiled linseed or or Tung oil.  Both available on-line or from a variety of DIY shops like Home Depot, Ace Hardware, etc.   My personal preference is for Tung oil, which I use on all sorts of wood projects like vertical archer's bows, musical instruments and knife hilts and sheaths.

type of finish will have to do with grade of crossbow, from common to nobleman, the higher the grade the higher the finish,, oils + beeswax up to shellacs and laquers,, a good source is to look at the history of musical instruments for the higher grades

Bit of a heretic, I used diamond floor wax.  Gives a wax look, but, extremely hard wearing.
