For my first post here I thought I would show off my first crossbow/ custom work which I just finished today. This is my customized Cobra Crossbow Pistol PDW.
It sports aluminium side panels replacing the original plastic fore grips. To those I fitted weaver rails, rubber guards, a tactical fore grip, laser sight, flashlight and custom designed/built quiver.
I made up a gravity fed 4+1 magazine out of aluminium with a iron filled polyurethane follower. I removed the safety to allow for relatively rapid cocking and firing. At the rear of the magazine I fitted a 30mm triple reticule red dot sight. I tried Tried to keep the magazine minimalistic and low profile.
Finally I modified an old Nerf gun stock, cut down the cocking lever and fitted the stock via a telescopic aluminium tube. The final detail will be a rubber butt pad. I am super happy that the magazine works a treat and does not jam, in fact it keeps the bolts flat against the rails for much more consistency shot to shot.
The magazine follower retaining strap is dyed leather held on with low profile Velcro and the aluminium was blackened chemically.
Really happy with the final results and the build was a real blast. All done with a bandsaw, bench belt and disk sander and a drill press along with basic hand tools. I might add another sheet of grp strip to the prod to see if I can get a bit more oomph out of it.
Btw...how the heck can I Insert images and scroll through text to edit on an iPad?! HELP!
